Welcome Mercedes-Benz Memphis Section

Greetings to all and welcome to the May-June edition of the River City Star. We’re still aiming for 100 for our membership goal, and still holding in the mid-90s. Please continue to hang in there with us and encourage your friends and fellow members to renew their membership when it comes due.

We lost two of our long time and most ardent club members over the winter, Dale Duckworth and Dirk Brakebusch. Dale was a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel and our 2019 Member of the Year. Dirk was an accomplished chef always eager to lend a hand at our get togethers. Please remember their wives and their families in your thoughts and prayers.

We have made some changes, corrections, and refinements to our upcoming Calendar of Events for the year, so please check that out later in the newsletter. Our next event involving travel is a short drive to Hernando MS. in June to visit their Farmer’s Market, followed by lunch at one of the many restaurants there. More information on this and other events will be sent out as we get closer to the actual dates.

Jo Anne and I had the pleasure of meeting our new Regional Director, Ken Koehler, and his wife Sara two weeks ago and had a great time together. Ken has the best interests of all his sections and to grow its membership and to add regional events. We can look forward to bigger and better things in the future.

Lastly, I want to again put in a request to encourage you to consider the club’s automatic renewal program. You can still cancel at any time, you will be reminded that your membership is about to end and will be renewed. You can choose either the one-, two- or three-year plan. Please give it some consideration.

Welcome Mercedes-Benz Memphis Section

Greetings and welcome to the July-August edition of the Memphis Section newsletter.  For a bit of good news, even during these strange times, we’re actually increasing our section membership and are up to 91.  Additionally, our national business office has again started distributing funds to the sections to help recruiting and organizing events.

As we slowly begin recovering from over a year of restrictions due to the Coronavirus, I want to invite you to our next club activity.  Mercedes of Memphis has graciously agreed to open their dealership to us and to host a Show & Shine event.  Its time to grab a polishing cloth, detail spray, engine cleaner, and a car vac, and prep your pride and joy for a couple of hours of fun on Saturday morning, July 17th, from 9-11.  I know many of you have cars of various vintages from the 1950s up until brand new, and they all sparkle with a little TLC.  MB of Memphis knows how to do this right, so it will be fun, and we will award door prizes based on a popular vote.

For August, we’re planning to restart our section dinners.  It has been a very long time since we were able to get together and enjoy each other’s company over dinner, so be sure and put Saturday evening, August 21st on your calendar.  Currently we’re planning on dining at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, at 5110 Poplar.  We’ll be sending out more information by flyer as we get closer to the event.

Until I’m able to see you all again, stay safe and drive with care.
