The Mercedes-Benz Club of America (MBCA), the largest Mercedes-Benz enthusiast organization in the world, has selected Winchester, Virginia and Historic Jordan Springs as the go-to destination for their 11th annual StarFest® 2010 celebration. StarFest, which began as a bi-annual event by the MBCA in 1988, has grown into an array of events and activities for families, car enthusiasts, collectors and Mercedes-Benz admirers alike—from competitive, non-speed driving events called ‘Autocross;’ to defensive driving classes led by world class driving experts; to car care clinics; technical seminars; social receptions; food and fun—StarFest promises something for everyone. According to William West Hopper, this year’s StarFest Committee Chair, “Our Concours d’Elegance is a world-renowned competition where pristine Mercedes-Benz vehicles are judged for their condition, appearance and authenticity. Spectators will be able to see a jaw-dropping line-up of Club members’ cars—from rarely-seen early year Mercedes-Benz models like a 1960 Gullwing to the brand new SLS from AMG. These cars are truly something to behold.” Throughout the year, Mercedes-Benz’ Concours d’Elegance events are held in Pebble Beach, California; Amelia Island, Florida and other popular resort destinations. “We’re honored to be displaying the Mercedes-Benz brand and the majestic Shenandoah Valley on such a wide public platform,” Hopper adds. The one-day Concours d’Elegance on September 25 is free for spectators and open to the public. Over two dozen events are scheduled during StarFest’s six-day run. Along the way, attendees can enjoy non-car activities including brunch at the Winchester Country Club; a day of shopping in historic Middleburg, Virginia; a drive-in movie; luncheon and tour of Glen Burnie House and Gardens and more. Current members of the MBCA can register and pay in advance for the events of their choice (fees vary by event). Any non-member who wishes to attend the festivities or register their Mercedes-Benz for display and/or judging, is invited to become a member and join the StarFest experience. “Membership to the Club is just $45 a year and the benefits members receive are amazing,” Hopper explains. According the Club’s national website, membership includes a free subscription to the Club’s award-winning magazine; discounts off parts, service and accessories from participating Mercedes-Benz dealers throughout the U.S. and Canada; world-class vacation packages to Stuttgart, Germany; online tips and technical information from automotive experts; social functions in over 80 regions of the country and more.
